Obituary for Sherrie M. Nuernberg

NEGAUNEE, MI – Sherrie Michelle Nuernberg, age 47, of Negaunee, entered eternal life Friday, December 29, 2017, at UP Health System – Marquette, in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Born February 14, 1970, in Midland, a daughter of Roger and Karen (Daniels) Lemponen, Sherrie was raised in Midland and graduated from Bullock Creek High School. While in high school, she was active in their musical offerings, playing piano and flute in the band. Following graduation, she enrolled in a business management course at Davenport College and received her business management degree in 1988, later working as a secretary for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority in Farwell for seven years. During this time, Sherrie also enrolled in a photography school course and for the next several years, served off and on as a portrait photographer for K-Mart and Wal-Mart in Midland and Mt. Pleasant. On August 12, 2005, Sherrie married Lonnie Nuernberg, in Mt Pleasant, and together the couple made their first home in Harrison where they also raised her three children from a previous marriage. Six years ago, Sherrie retired due to a lengthy illness. She was very devoted to family, especially her grandchildren. In earlier years, she enjoyed playing piano for her church, camping, demolition derbies, photography, and the companionship of her chihuahua, Cinnamon. Sherrie attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Harvey.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie Nuernberg of Negaunee; her children, Cecelia (Randy) Lavenberg of Midland, Brooke (Jeremy) Green of Hale, and Jonathan Platz of Lower Michigan; her grandchildren, Emma, Sara, Arrayah, Katlyn, Ava-Ann, Jeremy, Kamrin; her parents, Roger and Karen Lemponen of The Villages, FL; her sister, Kristi (Tom) Staten of Greenville; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Harvey.on Saturday, January 6, beginning at 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Bishop Robert Winn will preside. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
