Obituary for Julia Shaw

MARQUETTE, MI - Julia O. Shaw, age 88, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the Norlite Nursing Center with her loving family by her side.
Julia was born in Engadine, Michigan, on August 4, 1929, to Edward and Julia (Price) Halverson, and spent her early years enjoying the Upper Peninsula way of life, picking berries, apples, and embroidering. She loved country music, kitty cats (all kinds), and writing letters to her pen pals all over the world. She was also known for making the best Christmas candy. She enjoyed eating at the Big Boy Restaurant and going to the Donut Hole. Loved by everyone that she met, Julia will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her parents; and sisters, Lucille Hawley and Anna Stevenson.
Julia is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Raymond J. Shaw, whom she married December 20, 1968; her children, Barb Vincent of Marquette, Ruth (Grant) McKean of Somerville, NJ, and Emily Bartol of Appleton, WI; grandkids, Lynn Novak, Michael Wessman, Sophie and Elise McKean, Justis, Cheri, and Jessica Bartol; great-grandkids, Amanda, Bethany, Nicole, and Kimberly; several great great-grandkids; a sister, Thelma (Leroy) Boucha; and brother, Edward Halverson; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service will be held at the Serenity Pines Cemetery in AuTrain on Monday, November 6, at 10:30 am. Rev. Christopher Gardiner will officiate.
