MARQUETTE - Ruthann Carol Christie, age 60, of 1279 Lakeshore Park Place, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Marquette General Hospital in the loving care of her family. Ruthann was born December 7, 1951, in Durand, Michigan the daughter of Carl and Virginia (Hoskins) Froberg and was a 1970 graduate of Swartz Creek High School. Following graduation from high school, Ruthann started working for Kmart as a cashier. While working as a cashier, she met Robert Christie who was also employed by Kmart and the couple later married and started a family. Ruthann then went to work for Hamady Brothers Supermarkets again as a cashier and later was employed with Tru Green as an administrative assistant before her retirement. After several vacations to the U.P., Ruthann and Robert fell in love with Marquette and chose to make it home. She was a member of Gaines United Methodist Church. In her spare time, Ruthann was a wonderful gourmet cook, an avid reader and loved to take walks with her beloved husband Robert. Ruthann is survived by her husband Robert Christie of Marquette; her son, Jason (Becky) Christie of Swartz Creek, MI; grandson, Owen Christie; her sister, Jennifer (James) Pilarski of Grand Blanc, MI; her brother, Carl (Shannon) Froberg of Davison, MI; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Christie of Marquette; her brother-in-law Jim Christie of Flint, MI and several aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Karen. Visitation will be at the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm with Rev. Leon Jarvis, Marquette General Hospital chaplain, presiding. Burial will be made in the Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to ALS of Michigan, 24359 Northwestern Hwy, Ste 100, Southfield, MI 48075. Bob, It broke my heart to hear about Annie. We are in Colorado and cannot make the service but will keep you in my heart and prayers.
